Today we were joined by LEFTANDLOST who’s creating some highly unique pieces, from psychedelic animated masterpieces to humorous depictions of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as various animated characters including: Winnie the Pooh, Patrick Star and Mickey Mouse.

LEFTANDLOST, thank you for taking the time to do this interview with us.

Love your “BruteNewts” they look so cool. How did you first get into creating digital art?

Thank you so much! Brute newts came to life when another creator approached me with the idea of a “saturday morning cartoon” type of collection. We hope to really expand the universe and tell a story that pays homage to the shows and stories we grew up with.

I’ve been creating art for years, and only went digital when I purchased my first Ipad. Prior to that drawing and painting was my main medium.

A self-taught artist based in Denver, your art shows great versatility, with styles often differing from piece to piece.

What are your inspirations? This could be artists (NFT or non-NFTs), TV shows, music, or any random thing on the internet!

I grew up around hip hop and street culture influence and was inspired by graffiti artists. Guys like Shepard Fairy, SHOK-1, and Mike Giant were huge inspirations to me. After delving into street art I learned to appreciate all forms of creating. But I also appreciate the trippy and absurd/ lowbrow art styles of @Killeracid and Lurklovesyou. I’ll use everything from personal photography to video editing in order to create my work.

What made you pursue NFT art?

A close friend from high school had been teaching me the ways of crypto trading, and not long after that, he explained what NFT’s were and how it would be big for artists. It didn’t take too much convincing, and after making a few sales within the first couple of weeks I was hooked. The NFT space really gives you the opportunity to make life-changing moves. I’m excited to see how the space grows in a year or two.

What is your work process from idea to finish?

Generally, I have an idea or image that pops into my head- and usually, when that happens I know exactly how I want it to look in the end. It’s usually a feeling or emotion that I want to convey. Very rarely do I sit down and draw without a plan.

Cryptocurrencies and NFT have been dominating the world news for the past year thanks to the meteoric rise of Bitcoin, Cryptopunks, and of course, the famous Beeple $69M NFT purchase. What are your honest thoughts on the cryptocurrency and NFT space right now?

I love it and only think it’s going to get bigger. Not only are there opportunities for artists but also coders, developers, and musicians. We keep seeing big brands make moves in the space, so that tells me “there’s something here”, in my opinion.

What are your other passions besides creating art?

I love going out to see live music, I’m into most genres, and going to concerts and connecting to others via music is great. I also love exploring new places and try to travel when possible. outside of creating art, I love to make beats/music as well.

This is something we ask new starters in CoinBurp as part of their Q&A interviews that we post on our blog, but the answers are always great so we’ll ask you too; What TV show or movie are you ashamed to admit you love?

Probably 90-day fiance, I love to hate the drama in reality shows

Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions for us. The CoinBurp team can’t wait to see you grow as an artist!
