When people think of NFTs, especially in regards to art, they think of the future of technology and NFT art usually uses similar futuristic themes. But that’s not the case for NFT artist Foleee. Who uses classical techniques to create some fantastic unique pieces that help to bring back that vintage style into the 21st century, with the help of NFTs.

Foleee, thank you for taking the time to do this interview with us.

CoinBurp are big fans of your work. It looks so timeless and beautifully realistic. How did you first get into creating digital art?

First of all I want to thank you for this opportunity. Well, I’m a graphic designer and I was making traditional portraits for a long time so the transition to digital was pretty natural to me, just started to explore a new medium and fell in love with it, the endless possibilities, the versatility of it, just seemed right to me and became my main form of art since.

Your work uses classic techniques to create a highly authentic piece, which wouldn’t seem out of place in the 18th century.

What are your inspirations? This could be artists (NFT or non-NFTs), TV shows, music, or any random thing on the internet!

Well, obviously my main inspiration is classical art. I’m a big fan of baroque art in general and my biggest influences in that field are Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Delacroix, Géricault, Rubens and a lot more. I think what separates an artist from other people is that artists take inspiration in everything, life itself can be an inspiration, for me it’s about feelings, it’s about how different experiences can trigger different emotions that you end up putting into your art. I love depicting strong emotions and I was always fascinated how the human figure can say so much without saying a word, that’s what moves me, to tell a story without saying a word; just the beauty of a look or a smile or even a sad face.

What has been your favourite piece of work you’ve ever done? What has been your favourite piece you’ve sold as an NFT?

It’s really a difficult question for me, all of my pieces have some story behind and end up being very dear to me. I try to put a little bit of my soul in every piece.

I’ve been selling NFTs for 3 months now so I didn’t sell a lot of pieces and I don’t really mint too often so every piece that I’ve been able to sell it’s an amazing experience, not for the money but because having someone trusting and supporting your work it’s a really humbling experience for me and I’m really appreciative for that.

What is your work process from idea to finish?

My process is never the same for a piece, it depends on my mood I guess, sometimes I start with a pretty clear idea of what i’m going to do, making a sketch and putting things together and other times I just have no idea of what i’m going to do. Both ways are great, having a vision and being able to materialize it on the canvas or just go with the flow and let the piece surprise you and reveal itself along the way. Being a little more specific I try to treat my paintings as a traditional painting, first dropping some big brush strokes and defining the shapes and lights and then refining it and add all the details.

Cryptocurrencies and NFT have been dominating the world news for the past year thanks to the meteoric rise of Bitcoin, Cryptopunks, and of course, the famous Beeple $69M NFT purchase. What are your honest thoughts on the cryptocurrency and NFT space right now?

I think right now we’re facing a little bit of a quiet moment. I believe the market needs to stabilize a little bit but I think NFTs are here to stay. This is the future right here and it is really early still so i’m pretty excited about new things to come. There’s a lot of great minds in here and a lot of talent so only good things can come from this. I truly believe there’s no limit with NFTs, we’re just looking at the tip of the iceberg here.

What are your other passions besides creating art?

I’m passionate about different stuff, I love just staying at home watching movies or series. I’m a big fan of traveling, it is a really growing experience and an opportunity to find inspiration in different cultures, places, etc. I love soccer, I am a crazy fan of my team (a very passionate one). I enjoy exercising. I go to a crossfit box to workout. It gives me the opportunity to blow some steam off and clear my head after a long sit on the screen. And last but not least, I LOVE PIZZA ❤.

This is something CoinBurp asks new starters in the company as part of their Q&A interviews that get posted on the blog, but the answers are always great! What TV show or movie are you ashamed to admit you love?

Well, that’s not an easy one. There’s a movie that always gets me, I’m a little ashamed acknowledging that I’ve watched it A LOT of times. The movie is a Hugh Grant movie, Music and Lyrics. Don’t even know why but if I see it’s on the TV I HAVE to rewatch it.

Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. The CoinBurp team can’t wait to see you grow as an artist!

Post some links to where people can find your artwork and social media accounts. Also, feel free to shout out anything else you wish.
