Our first product definition workshop back in June

Where it all began

The story starts back in June, when CoinBurp was founded by Pete (CEO), Bipin (COO), and Tom (UX Lead), who has been employing a UX-led process ever since to build an easy, friendly, and fun way to trade cryptocurrency. Six-months on, and CoinBurp is still of the belief that the cryptocurrency landscape is largely dark and intimidating, resulting in a misconception that only the young or technically-minded can enter the market. With this in mind, the long-term goal remains to tackle this misconception head-on in creating a cryptocurrency service for everyone. “But when can I make my first trade!”, I hear you cry. Well, beta testing begins in January, with the view to launch the platform the following month. So, not long now!

Squad goals

The team has more than doubled in size since kicking-off in the summer, with seven team members now on deck. Alongside the three founders, there is a development team consisting of Full-stack Developer; Damian, QA Automation Engineer; Jordan, and freelance Front-end Developer; Zsuzsanna. And on the marketing front, Marketing Manager Darren, who will be joined by a Marketing Lead in the new year. Most recently, CoinBurp had their first work social as a ‘septet’ (a group of seven!), which saw the team head out to Bounce; Europe’s largest ‘Social Ping Pong Club’.

Logo development

Back in July, a new logo was needed to match the CoinBurp vision, so it was an easy decision to partner with Gianluca Militello (also known as ‘SaintGraphic’); an illustrator based in Milan.

It was important for the logo to be playful, but being a trading platform, the team knew the design needed to remain credible and trustworthy. On first thought, the first iteration (top left) was too cartoonish. So, after a quick trip to the dentist, the decision was then made on our final logo designs (the last two from the bottom right).

Logo implementation

The first time the Burping ‘C’ design was in action was on the front door of the Devonshire Square office.

Isn’t it beautiful. In fact, the logo’s so cool that merch was created. After teaming up with 3rd Rail; a screen and t-shirt printing studio based in London, producing some of the finest pieces of garms you might ever see. And here they are on some beautiful models…

Moorgate

Starting in Moorgate, the three-man office became a squashed four. And with the team ever-growing, it was necessary to head elsewhere.

Devonshire Square

The newly-built 8 Devonshire Square was CoinBurp’s next home. After scouting out the place in hard hats while construction was still underway, it was decided the state of the art high-rise was the place to be. Although the table tennis table here is “not olympic size and that’s why I’m not winning” (according to Tom), I think it’s safe to say that the team enjoyed their time there.

Moorgate, again!

History repeats itself, returning home to Moorgate in January. Having already reached full-capacity at Devonshire Square, everyone’s set to head back to the old stomping ground, but this time into a twelve-man office! Follow the CoinBurp social channels, where the lasted photos will be posted.

WeWork Creator Awards presented by Ashton Kutcher

WePartied

The CoinBurp team does like to try and enjoy themselves sometimes, though. During the first tenure at Moorgate, it was lucky to be amidst a World Cup fever, which resulted in booking out meeting rooms to watch the games with friends and family. Other than that, highlights include competing in the CoinBurp Table Tennis League (you can find out who won that here) and attending the WeWork Creator Awards presented by Ashton Kutcher at London PrintWorks.

Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year from everyone here at CoinBurp.

That’s it for the six-month round-up. Want to know more about CoinBurp? Check out the socials @CoinBurp on Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. Hope to see you soon!
