Many still believe that NFTs are a passing fad, and they couldn’t be more wrong. In fact, NFTs are increasing in popularity as their use-cases continue to expand beyond the realms of art and media.

NFTs have, for the most part, been created as unique digital collectables with little utility, but the arts and entertainment world are wielding significant influence with NFTs, which are presently reshaping the future of business, finance, and even healthcare.

Brace yourselves, NFTs may still be in their early stages, but they are packing huge potential. To put things into perspective, Bitcoin entered into existence all the way back in 2009, now consider the industries, academics, enterprises, economies, and even countries that are deeply invested in cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies. Can you see where things are headed?

It’s a new era, and we’re loving every minute of it.

This month we saw NFT sales rise once again, in the last 30-day period there have been almost 200,000 NFT transactions totalling just over $300 million at the time of writing (July 31st, 2021, 17:09 GMT).

Once again CryptoPunks has stormed the top 5 sales this month with four entries, which are also accompanied by a Meebit, all of which have sold for over $1 million. The past weekend has been insane for CryptoPunks, with the average price of one surging by 53%, from 34 ETH ($87,800) on July 24 to 52 ETH ($135,000). Gary Vaynerchuk, a famous motivational speaker and entrepreneur paid $3.7M for CryptoPunk #2140 on the weekend, which seemed to be the trigger for more buyers to swarm the market.

We’d like to thank NonFungible.com for providing all the data we’ll be using below. So here are the top 5 sales from July 2021!

5) Ͼ #6649

Project: CryptoPunks

Last Sale Price: US$1,980,846.90 / 810 ETH

First Sale Price: US$541.42 / 1.9 ETH

Accumulated Sales: US$3,157,403.46

This is a truly unique CryptoPunk. With crazy hair, glowing red eyes, and a strange but solid beard, Ͼ #6649 is quite the catch. However, what makes this and many CryptoPunks so valuable is the coveted Zombie green skin.

Having debuted at the humble price of $541, this CryptoPunk has changed hands 6 times, and is now worth almost $2 million. Wild!

4) Ͼ #3831

Project: CryptoPunks

Last Sale Price: US$2,072,266.00 / 850 ETH

First Sale Price: US$269.74 / 1 ETH

Accumulated Sales: US$2,325,010.77

We do like to see a touch of contemporary in the world of NFTs, and this social-distancing conscious CryptoPunk is rocking a medical mask, vampire hair and big shades on top of his zombie skin.

Is the mask for his protection? Or ours?

3) Meebit #17522

Project: Meebits

Last Sale Price: US$2,140,840.00 / 1,000 ETH

First Sale Price: US$2,140,840.00 / 1,000 ETH

Accumulated Sales: US$2,140,840.00

In order to topple the swathes of CryptoPunks on the market, it seems as though having a double-pig head will serve you well.

This Meebit has made its debut at a remarkable price; and whilst many of you will be wondering why this NFT is worth more than a lifetime of work, look no further than the backwards cap, CGA shirt, neon sneakers, and of course the double-pig head.

Sure, it might not make sense on paper, but you tell that to the buyer.

2) Ͼ #2140

Project: CryptoPunks

Last Sale Price: US$3,764,528.00 / 1,600 ETH

First Sale Price: US$734,776.00 / 400 ETH

Accumulated Sales: US$5,669,851.50

Finally, just when you thought CryptoPunks had run out of ideas, they issue Apes.

Amazingly, this CryptoPunk was purchased by serial entrepreneur and legendary loudmouth, Gary Vee (Gary Vaynerchuck). This CryptoPunk is one of 24 Ape Punks to be issued. Pair that with some shades and a particularly cool orange knitted cap, and you’ve got a winner.

1) Ͼ #5217

Project: CryptoPunks

Last Sale Price: US$5,500,597.50 / 2,250 ETH

First Sale Price: US$1,935.28 / 2.5 ETH

Accumulated Sales: US$5,523,237.78

Here we are, the top entry of the month. Remarkably, this CryptoPunk Ape has quite a lot in common with the previous entry, but what seems to set it $2 million apart is the gold chain. With a sultry look in its eyes, the orange knitted cap sits comfortably on the head of a pixel Ape, one of the most valuable NFTs in the world.
